Joe Dalby Motors was built in 1946 at 601 West 16th Street and Mulberry Street, where Huey’s Coffee is now.

An $8,000 permit was issued to Joe Dalby to build a 50’x100′ structure to house an Allis-Chalmers tractor business and garage, says Mt. Pleasant Daily Times in 1946.

The location is an excellent one for this kind of business and I’m expanding to take care of future demands which are certain, due to the rapid growth of Mt. Pleasant and Titus County,” Joe said.

No other records were found of Joe Dalby selling any tractors, but the first advertisement founds was in July of 1947 when Joe Dalby Motors sold postwar Studebakers.

An advertisement in May of 1955 shows him selling new Packard automobiles.

The Studebaker-Packard Corporation was created 1954 by a merger of the Studebaker Corporation and Packard Motor Car Company.

Typically he only kept one model on the showroom floor.

1980 was the last listing of Joe Dalby Motors Auto Repair in the Mt. Pleasant City Directory.
